ART OF THE GAME TO ANNOUNCE SCULPTURE
WINNERS
Pittsfield, MA. On Monday, April 3
at 6:30pm in the auditorium of The Berkshire
Athenaeum, located at 1 Wendell Avenue in
Pittsfield, the Art Of The Game committee will
announce, and introduce, the 18 winners of the 3-D
Sculpture project, part of this summer’s city-wide
art and baseball celebration.
The party will allow the chosen artists to meet the
public and discuss their work which will be on
display. Also to be seen for the first time will be
many of the designs submitted by various schools and
youth groups for the baseball glove project. One
hundred of these creatively decorated figures will
be put on display in Pittsfield, and around the
county, opening simultaneously with the 20
installations provided by the chosen artists.
In addition, the Co-Chairs of Art Of The Game will
announce the parameters for the sculpture
competition for a 1791 memorial statue to be erected
in Pittsfield 2007. This competition will include a
nationwide call for artists. The 1791 statue
project, which completes the Art Of The Game’s
current outlook for the two year undertaking, is
estimated to cost nearly $200,000.
Refreshments will be served, all with a baseball
motif. The public is invited to attend and the
wearing of baseball uniforms - Little League or
Major League - are encouraged for this event. For
